Section 21: The Sauratown Trail from Pilot Mountain to Hanging Rock State Park

NOTICE: The Sauratown Trail is closed until January 3, 2012 when gun hunting season ends.
The Sauratown Trail, a horse and hiking trail maintained by the Sauratown Trails Association, starts on the east side of Pilot Mountain State Park and runs to Tory’s Den at Hanging Rock State Park. Follow the Tory’s Den, Moore’s Wall Loop, Lake and Indian Creek trails to the campground at Hanging Rock State Park. Camping is available by reservation at Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock state parks.
NOTE: Several sections of the trail have been rerouted, and some may be temporily closed. Sauratown Trails Association has developed hiking directions for a detour (scroll down the page to announcements).

Pilot Mountain State Park: Although the MST does not go through Pilot Mountain State Park at this time. plans are underway to route the trail from the Yadkin River section of the Park up the corridor trail to the Mountain section. Jay Young of Friends of the Sauratown Mountains is the Task Force Leader for these trails in the state park.
