We want to make it as easy as possible for you to explore North Carolina’s state trail.

Currently, about 620 miles of the 1,000-mile trail, running from Clingmans Dome on the Tennessee line east to Jockey’s Ridge on the Atlantic coast, is on trail. The remainder follows a temporary route along back roads.

To help you find your way, we’ve divided the trail into 18 segments and 2 alternate segments, numbered west to east. You can read about each segment in the MST Trail Guide (see link below), and you can map the segments on the interactive google map (look to the bottom of the map to toggle on segment endpoints, parking areas, photos, etc.)
