Ways to Give

You can give to support the trail in a number of ways in addition to annual membership.

GIVE STOCKS

Gifts of appreciated securities are a great way to make a meaningful gift to FMST, minimize capital gains and receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of your gift at the time of transfer. Your broker will need information on stock delivery methods to facilitate the transfer. Please contact Kate Dixon, Executive Director, at kdixon@ncmst.org or 919-698-9024 to make your gift.

MATCHING GIFTS

Many employers match donations and volunteer hours to charitable organizations. If your company matches gifts, send us the form along with your contribution, and we’ll handle the paperwork from there.

CORPORATE SPONSORS

Corporate donations are a big help in FMST's efforts to build and maintain the trail. We like to recognize companies that make membership donations of $100 or more as MST Month Corporate Sponsors.

SPECIALITY LICENSE PLATE

In June 2011, the NC Legislature authorized an MST speciality license plate if FMST can presell at least 300 plates by July 2013. If you'd like to buy a plate, please e-mail Kate Dixon at kdixon@ncmst.org to place your order.

PLANNED GIVING

You can leave a legacy on the trail by including FMST in your estate plans. Simple ways to do this are to include a bequest to FMST or to designate FMST as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or insurance policy. WORKPLACE GIVING CAMPAIGN - EARTHSHARE 

Look for us as one of the members of EarthShare NC, an organization that raises funds to preserve and enhance the natural environment through workplace giving and education. If FMST is part of your workplace giving campaign, we would welcome your help in spreading the word about FMST and EarthShare with your coworkers. If we are not part of your workplace campaign and you would like to see us added, contact us and we would be happy to share information about how FMST can become one of your workplace giving options.

ENDOWMENTS GIFTS

FMST has established an endowment at the NC Community Foundation to support North Carolina’s flagship trail. Our long-term goal is to build the endowment to well over $1 million to provide a steady source of support for the MST. Only the income from the endowment will be used to build, care for and promote the trail.  The principal will never be touched.
