Hike from Bad Fork to the Chestnut Cove Overlook

Length:  9.5 miles

Difficulty:  Strenuous

Kid Friendly?  Children under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Generally not suitable for young children.

Meeting Place:  Call hike leader for directions

Description:  This in-and-out hike begins at the Trace Ridge Trailhead. We will hike up Bad Fork to the Blue Ridge Parkway (a steep 700-foot ascent for the second mile) to Bent Creek Gap, and then follow the MST to the Chestnut Cove Overlook to enjoy a beautiful view during lunch.

What to Bring:  Water, lunch, high-energy snacks, good hiking shoes, raingear

Organized ByCarolina Mountain Club, which maintains 140 miles of the MST
