Hike and Paddle Overnight Trip at Falls Lake, Wake & Durham counties
Camping with hike and paddle

9:00 AM (long trip option), 12:00 PM (short trip option)

General Location: Triangle, Wake and Durham counties, Falls Lake

Length:  Short Trip Option – 3-mile hike, 3-mile paddle /  Long Trip Options – 11 or 15-mile hike, 7-mile paddle (if most direct route is taken) 10 to 15-mile paddle route can be made

Difficulty:  Easy - Short Trip /Moderate to Strenuous - Long Trip

Meeting Place:  Shinleaf Campground at Falls Lake (specific directions will be e-mailed to registrants approximately one week prior to the trip date.)  A carpool meeting location in Durham will also be coordinated.

Description:  Frog Hollow will be offering multiple trip types over this weekend - a short guided trip, a long assisted trip, and day trip options. The basic schedule for all trips is as follows: DAY 1 participants will be shuttled from Shinleaf Campground to the trailheads for a hike along a portion of the MST/Falls Lake Trail back to our campsite at Shinleaf.  DAY 2 participants will paddle Falls Lake out of Shinleaf Campground to their take-out and then be shuttled back to Shinleaf to end their trip.

What to Bring:  Sleeping bag (non-cotton), sleeping pad, some food and snacks, plenty of water, quick-dry clothing that you do not mind getting dirty or wet and that is suitable for the forecasted weather (NO cotton), and towel (a more comprehensive gear list will be sent to registered participants). Frog Hollow will provide boats, tents and a pasta dinner for Saturday evening. All participants must sign a waiver. Visit www.froghollowoutdoors.com for more info. Costs (short and long options) -- Hike, Paddle, and Camp - $78 per person;  Hike, Paddle, and no Camp - $68 per person Paddle Trip Only - $48 per person; Hike Only - $20 per person; Frog Hollow supplies boats, guides, shuttle, sweep hikers and carpool logisitics. $10 of these fees will be a donation to Friends of Mountains-to-Sea Trail to further construction of the trail.
